Members are needed for leadership positions and to support programs, initiatives, projects and events hosted by TWF. Help us keep our members and the public informed about our mission and initiatives. New ideas and active members help the organization to remain viable and relevant.
While we sincerely appreciate your financial contribution, we really need you to volunteer and actively support the programs and events. Read the newsletter to keep informed about programs and projects. Volunteer opportunities are listed on the pages of this website. Find what interests you and email the coordinator or just email President Judy Hills. If you have ideas you think TRF may be interested in pursuing, we want to hear from you.
Why join?
Twin Rivers Friends, founded in 1968, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated in the state of North Carolina. The following is a partial list of accomplishments during our 2025/2026 fiscal year:
- Funded the cost of opening and closing acts for the 2026 summer reading
program for all five Craven-Pamlico
Regional libraries - Provided thousands of dollars in funding to the library to supplement its budget for programs and unbudgeted expenses
- Refreshed libraries at numerous
Assisted Living Facilities in the area - Presented an Oktoberfest program for residents of Golden Heights Assisted Living Facility and New Bern Older
Housing Facility - Held two book sales in the spring and in the fall benefitting the community and the library
- Added one new story to our StoryWalk® collection—now totaling 12 stories, and maintained two permanent StoryWalks® one at Martin Marietta Park and one at Creekside Park
- Maintained and stocked seven Little Free Libraries at various locations.
- Provided one book to every student in Oaks Road Academy, the Duffyfield Head Start Program, and the after school care
program of the Boys & Girls Club - Hosted two jigsaw puzzle competitions, craft workshops, and winter bingo
- Hosted an Authors luncheon—proceeds of the event went to the library STEAM program
Our memberships are for one year from the date your membership or renewal is entered into the member database. While we do have categories of membership, whatever amount you pay covers your immediate family.
