What does the TRF do with the donated books?
Here is a partial list of how we have used donated books in the past:
- We stock the seven (7) Little Free Library boxes that we take care of in the New Bern area
- Our volunteers use donated books to refresh libraries at assisted living facilities, nursing care facilities, senior centers, and senior living housing.
- The better/best books are sold at our bi-annual big book sales. Proceeds from these sales sustain our mission and programs.
- A few we sell to online resellers, e.g., Powell Books.
- Public library managers have been given early access to the sales and allowed to take books needed for their library collection.
- Books have been donated to the Craven Correctional Institution.
- Residents of the RHA Howell Center for the mentally challenged, River Bend, have received books and videos.
- We have also offered books to other nonprofits.
